Before two parties can communicate, they need to agree on which OCPI version to use.

Each party exposes a versions endpoint listing the versions it supports and the URL for each version's details.

Why this matters

Version negotiation ensures both parties speak the same protocol. Without it, a request using OCPI 2.2.1 fields could fail against a 2.1.1 endpoint.

Both parties exchange credentials — each provides a token the other will use for future API calls.

Now connected, the CPO pushes its charging locations to the EMSP.

The EMSP pushes its driver tokens to the CPO.
